What are the password requirements?

At least 8 characters. There is no forced mix of symbols, digits and capitals — those rules tend to produce short passwords that are easy for a computer to guess and hard for a person to remember.

What actually helps:

  • Length beats complexity. Four unrelated words make a strong, memorable password.
  • Never reuse a password you use elsewhere. Most account takeovers start with a password leaked from an unrelated site.
  • A password manager, or your browser's built-in one, is the easiest way to keep a unique password per site.
